The Department of Life Sciences had organized a Guest lecture on Stem Cells- a Life Saving treatment” by Dr Sachin Suresh Jadhav, Group Head, Hematology and BMT, HCG Group of Hospitals in collaboration with DKMS, Germany and BMST, Bangalore on 19 August 2019. The event was conducted in Sky View, Central Campus, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) under the guidance of Dr Suma S, Associate Professor, Dept of Life Sciences. Dr Sachin explained the need to donate stem cells as there is a huge need for stem cell transplant for cancer patients. He elaborated on bone marrow transplant and the numerous applications of stem cells. Ms Shalini Gambhir, Head of Donor Recruitment & Data Management at DKMS BMST Foundation India, talked on the significance of stem cell registry. The students had lot of queries in this regard and it turned out to be a very interactive session.
